THE WORK Designs, plans, engineers, and maintains classified network communications systems. Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture. Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business and program needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Conducts testing of network design. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as switches, routers, firewalls, gateways, etc. Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network. The successful candidate will be a proactive, security focused engineer who can bridge the gap between network administration, network operations, and cybersecurity to sustain Lockheed Martin’s high assurance classified networks. Requirements

  • Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance.
  • Understanding of OSI or TCP/IP models.
  • OSI Layer 2 knowledge: VLANs, ARP, CDP, and trunking.
  • OSI Layer 3 knowledge: IP addressing and IP routing concepts.
  • 3+ years of experience planning, building, installing and troubleshooting network infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience implementing configurations using CLI on Cisco switches & routers.
  • Ability to tactfully interact with customers to resolve network connectivity issues.
  • Ability to troubleshoot network outages and restore network functionality.
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a cybersecurity certification such as CompTIA Security+.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with encryption devices and COMSEC.
  • Experience with Cisco routing devices such as 4000, and 8000 Series platforms.
  • Experience with Cisco switching devices such as 3850, 9300 and Nexus switching platforms.
  • Experience with Palo Alto firewall platforms.
  • Experience in the application of DISA (Defense Information Systems Agency) STIG (Security Technical Implementation Guides) settings to network computing infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with IP telephony and integration into existing IP network infrastructure.
  • System and network experience with Microsoft Windows, UNIX and Linux.
  • Familiarity in the design of network physical layer facilities, including specification of copper wiring and fiber optic cabling, physical security, power, and cooling requirements.
  • DoD Top Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy, configure, and manage networking systems across all classified networking environments.
  • Implement and maintain security controls, in accordance with DISA (Defense Information Systems Agency) STIG (Security Technical Implementation Guides)
  • Monitor networking system operation, health, and performance; troubleshoot complex issues to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with program stakeholders to obtain networking requirements
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity to enforce security standards, respond to incidents, and support classified network requirements.
  • Document configurations, procedures, and security implementations; provide clear communication and training to cross functional teams.
