About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Network Engineer to support the design, implementation, and sustainment of secure, high-performance network infrastructure supporting distributed defense operations. This position is contingent upon your ability to obtain/maintain/transfer an active DoD Secret security clearance. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring cybersecurity, operational readiness, and seamless data communication across mission-critical environments. This role requires hands-on expertise with specialized networking and security technologies, a deep understanding of DoD security protocols, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, demanding environment.

Requirements

  • The ability to obtain/maintain/transfer an active DoD Secret security clearance.
  • An Associates degree in Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • DoD IAT Level 2
  • 2 or more years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on security and DoD environments.
  • To support development and configuring secure and scalable network architectures that meet current and future mission requirements, including LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, and tactical networking solutions.
  • To support planning, designing, and executing network upgrades and expansions, ensuring minimal disruption to critical operations.
  • To collaborate with other IT teams (e.g., systems administration, cybersecurity) to ensure seamless integration of network services and compliance with security policies.

Responsibilities

  • Network Design and Implementation: Support development and configuring secure and scalable network architectures that meet current and future mission requirements, including LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, and tactical networking solutions.
  • Support planning, designing, and executing network upgrades and expansions, ensuring minimal disruption to critical operations.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams (e.g., systems administration, cybersecurity) to ensure seamless integration of network services and compliance with security policies.
  • Secure Network Sustainment: Proactively monitor network performance and security posture using specialized tools (e.g., SolarWinds, intrusion detection systems, SIEM platforms) to identify potential issues and vulnerabilities.
  • Respond to network incidents and outages, performing root cause analysis and implement effective solutions to restore services quickly and securely.
  • Perform regular network maintenance tasks, including firmware updates, configuration backups, security patching, and performance tuning.
  • Security Management and Compliance: Implement and maintain network security protocols and best practices, including firewalls (Cisco ASA, Palo Alto Networks, etc.), intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), VPNs, and access control mechanisms.
  • Enforce DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) to harden network devices and configurations.
  • Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans to identify and address potential security weaknesses.
  • Stay up to date on the latest cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities, and implement appropriate countermeasures.
  • Specialized Equipment Management: Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot TACLANE encryptors to ensure secure data transmission across classified networks.
  • Manage Video Teleconferencing (VTC) systems, ensuring reliable and secure communication capabilities.
  • Coalition Exercise Support: Support the setup and maintenance of network connectivity during joint exercises with allied forces, ensuring secure and interoperable communication.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, diagrams, processes, security protocols, and changes using standard documentation tools.
  • Follow network standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent and secure network operations and support updates.
  • Document troubleshooting steps and resolutions for future reference and knowledge sharing.
  • User Support and Training: Provide Tier 2/3 technical support to end-users and IT staff on network-related issues.
  • Deliver training materials and sessions to educate staff on network systems, protocols, security awareness, and the proper use of secure communication tools.
  • Collaborate with the help desk team to resolve escalated network issues and provide guidance on common troubleshooting steps.
