Requirements

  • Three to five years of progressively responsible network engineering hands-on experience with Cisco platforms.
  • Technical experience in Cisco, LAN/WAN, VoIP, TCP/IP protocol, routing/switching configurations and firewall technologies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and hands on experience with LAN/WAN setup, TCP/IP protocol, routing/switching configurations and firewall technologies.
  • Experience with Cisco routing/switching platforms and IOS.
  • Experience with network topologies such as Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, GbE VLAN, and SONET.
  • Experience in implementing converged networks to include VoIP, VTC and QoS methods.
  • Demonstrated knowledge with content switching and load balancers.
  • VoIP component configuration and deployment experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of systems and enterprise storage technologies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as required.
  • Candidate must have or be able to obtain a Security + CE certification prior to start.
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain an interim clearance.

  • VoIP component configuration and deployment experience.

Responsibilities

  • Complete tasks assigned by Senior Network Engineer.
  • Install, configure, and support an organization's local area network (LAN), Intranet and Internet, and other data communications systems or a segment of a network system.
  • Maintain network hardware and software.
  • Monitor network to ensure network availability to all system users and perform necessary maintenance to support network availability.
  • Provide support to projects that involve networks.
  • Support in the translation of business requirements into telecommunications (e.g., LAN, MAN, WAN, Voice, and Video) requirements, designs, and orders.
  • Develop LAN/WAN network designs to accommodate a data center migration.
  • Troubleshoot complex network issues such as performance analysis, protocol problems, hardware failures and WAN/LAN connectivity issues.
  • Participate in the implementation of agreed upon solutions and strategies.
  • Troubleshoot technology issues, using various internal and external resources.
  • Generate innovative approaches and solutions to recurring tasks or problems.
  • Document technical problems, resolutions, and processes for assigned tasks and projects.
  • Participate in testing and evaluation of new technologies to ensure compatibility and functionality.
  • Follow policies and procedures for change and incident management.
