The City of Orem IT Division is currently hiring for a Network Engineer. This is a full-time, benefited position working under the direction of the IT Division Manager. The Network Engineer is responsible to ensure the stable operation of computer networks, including planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links. This position will also analyze and resolve network related end user hardware and software computer problems in a timely and accurate manner; providing end user training may also be required occasionally.

  • Provide end user training as required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, OR five (5) years of experience in enterprise and wide area networks, OR a combination of education and experience commensurate with requirements of position.
  • Advanced knowledge of network and routing protocols.
  • Operational knowledge of Windows Server and Active Directory.
  • Advanced knowledge of switch configuration and programming.
  • Advanced knowledge of enterprise network designs.
  • Advanced knowledge of firewall administration (Zones, Policies, etc.).
  • Operational knowledge of voice communications infrastructure (POTS, PRI, SIP, DIDs, etc.).
  • Ability to install software and hardware on networking equipment and microcomputers.
  • Familiarity with a variety of networking and personal computer software.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance on servers, computers, and peripheral equipment.
  • Network certifications preferred (CCNA, CCNP, ACSA/ACSP, Network+, Security+).
  • Linux experience desired.
