About The Position

The Network Engineer position is an onsite role focused on providing exceptional customer service to employees while managing and supporting Data Mail's network infrastructure, including firewalls, wireless networks, remote access, backups, disaster recovery, and security systems. The role involves maintaining in-house systems, desktops, servers, and peripherals, ensuring optimal performance and reliability for business users.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience, or 5 years of experience with a college degree in Computer Networking, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields of study.
  • Certifications in Cisco networking, Microsoft, and/or VMWare ESX preferred.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of network and PC hardware, including workstations, desktops, switches, routers, firewalls, and peripherals.
  • Thorough experience with Microsoft Exchange/O365, Active Directory, SQL, SharePoint, IIS, and Office products in an enterprise environment.
  • Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technologies and products, independently using documentation and online resources.
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed.
  • Team-oriented and the ability to effectively work within a collaborative environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturing industry vertical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Act as an escalation point of contact for Desktop Support staff.
  • Maintain a high degree of customer service and adhere to all service management principles.
  • Take ownership of layer 3 and 4 network problems, and be proactive in finding resolutions.
  • Coordinate with vendors and support to resolve issues within the network.
  • Train and guide Desktop Support staff.
  • Work on network projects as directed by Management.
  • Assist in technical upgrading and maintenance of network devices and appliances.
  • Install, support and maintain hardware and software infrastructure according to best practices, including routers, switches, Wi-Fi controllers, firewalls, servers, and PCs.
  • Diagnose and solve issues, often under time constraints, adhering to established Business Service Level Agreements.
  • Monitor network usage, anticipate problems, and suggest or implement solutions.
  • Assist in the development of guidelines and procedures for administration and security best practices.
  • Maintain network documentation and procedures.
  • Participate in an on-call schedule for off-hours support of key systems (rotating weekly schedule).
  • Remain current on emerging technologies via professional groups, internal and external training, independent research, and study.
