Join Corning's Global Network Services Network Operations team as a Network Operations Engineer, where you'll play a critical role in supporting, deploying, and optimizing network infrastructure to support innovation and organizational goals.

  • Execute and support network infrastructure builds and upgrades for RD&E facilities in partnership with global network teams.
  • Serve as an escalation point for network issues, including wireless, firewalls, DNS, and connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Advocate for high-performance network solutions to support scientific computing and advanced technologies.
  • Communicate network changes, initiatives, and benefits to business groups and stakeholders.
  • Mentor and support team members in achieving organizational goals.
  • Maintain documentation network processes and procedures up to date.
  • Evaluate and refine handover and training documentation provided by engineering teams.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours network support.
  • Education: BS in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field; or equivalent expertise.
  • Experience: 7+ years in networking, including campus-wide wireless solutions (Mist, Arista, Cisco), wired/wireless debugging, and infrastructure design.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols and technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs).
  • Knowledge of IEEE 802.3/802.11 standards, network management systems, and end-to-end connectivity across diverse platforms including: wireless access points, LAN switches, core and data center switches, proxy, firewall, and load-balancer appliances.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and project management capabilities.
  • Configuring and using monitoring/alerting/forensic tools (e.g. SolarWinds, NetBrain, CACTI, Wireshark).
  • Ability to work occasional on-call weekends.
  • US Person status required for this role.
  • Certifications (Cisco CCNA, CWNP).
  • International travel flexibility.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders of all levels.
