About The Position

The Network Engineer V (On Site Extreme Engineer) supports the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC) Academic Network Labor Contract to administer, maintain, secure, and accredit the DLIFLC Academic Network which provides the IT environment for 100% of the DLIFLC teaching and instructing for all students, staff, faculty, and guests in a learning environment at the unclassified level.

Requirements

BA/BS from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 5+ years, AA/AS with 7+ year's experience or substitute with 9+ years of relevant experience working with network infrastructure, with focus on Extreme Networks products and solutions.
CCNA Certification or equivalent required.
Require anyone of the following IAT Level II (CCNA Security, CSA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, or SSCP) Certification and applicable CE/OS Certification.
Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies, including but not 15 limited to LAN, WAN, routing, switching, VLANs, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and network security.
Certified to work on Extreme Networks products, such as switches, routers, access points, and network management tools. Holding relevant industry certifications.
Adept at troubleshooting complex network issues, identifying root causes, and implementing effective solutions.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience in managing network-related projects, including planning, implementation, and documentation, including network upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure expansions.
Possess a combination of experience and skills with the following manufacturers and applications: VMware NSX: Install, Configure, Manage (V6.2) Ruckus Layer 2 Switches / Wireless Controller / Wireless Access Points Palo Alto Networks Firewall knowledge of PA-7050 / PA-3060 / PA-3260 / PA-5450 / WildFire/URL Filtering /Brocade MPLS Implementation Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches Cisco Networks switches and routers Aruba Networks Excellent knowledge of Wireless Controllers / Access Points / Airwave / ClearPass Ciena 100G OME 6500 DWDM System Extreme Networks Layer 2/3, MLXE Switches /Extreme IQ / OSPF, BGP, and MPLS l. Responsibilities

Serve as network engineer Lead. Responsibilities include monitoring, testing, and analyzing all elements of the network facilities. The duties will include planning, installation, maintenance during or after-work hours, troubleshooting, and network management
Academic Network Administration: Ensures the datacenter operates 24x7 with DoD-directed updates and security patches.
Academic Network Performance Monitoring: Monitor, document, and control the Academic Network performance for response, throughput, and availability.
Academic Network Internet Hardware and Software Issues: Identify and resolve hardware and software issues related to the commercial network's wireless and hardwired elements.
Academic Network Improvements and Enhancements: Identify opportunities and solutions for improving efficiencies with emerging technologies.
Academic Network Internet IP Addressing and DNS Management: Manage the Academic Network internet IP addressing schemes to ensure maximum availability
Academic Network Cybersecurity: Manage the Cybersecurity Network and Boundary Defense, Intrusion Detection tools and Techniques, and Incident Response.
Academic Network Cybersecurity Practices: Research, recommend, and implement best business practices for controlling and monitoring access to the Academic Network1.
On-Site Engineer (OSE) Extreme Certified services: Maintain the reliability and security of the DLIFLC Network's voice, data, and wireless services.
