About The Position

We are looking for a precision-driven Network Engineer (Transport Planning & Migrations) to join our Infrastructure team. In this role, you will be the primary architect of our transport network’s integrity, moving beyond high-level theory into the tactical execution of circuit migrations and hardware optimization. You will take ownership of the end-to-end "A-to-Z" circuit lifecycle—from identifying stranded assets and 0% utilized circuits to designing complex cutsheets that transition our network into its next generation of capacity. This is a 100% remote position open to qualified talent located anywhere within the United States.

Requirements

  • Transport Expertise: Extensive hands-on knowledge of network layers and a wide variety of transport equipment (e.g., DWDM, SONET, Optical Mesh).
  • Inventory Mastery: Proven experience with network inventory management systems (e.g., Granite, Netcracker, MSS) and reconciling complex equipment records.
  • Planning Precision: Ability to translate high-level planning packages into granular, executable engineering cutsheets.
  • Analytical Mindset: Strong ability to identify capacity needs and troubleshoot logical vs. physical pathing discrepancies.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent industry experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Industry Certifications: CCNA/CCNP Service Provider, Nokia NRS, or Ciena specialized certifications.
  • Tools: Proficiency in Visio, BlueCrush, or AutoCAD for network path visualization.
  • Environment: Previous experience in a Carrier, ISP, or large-scale Data Center Interconnect (DCI) environment.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize Network Assets: Conduct deep-dive data cleansing of Network Element Equipment; reconcile physical inventory with logical records to ensure a "single source of truth."
  • Drive Circuit Migrations: Utilize Turn Over Packages (TOP) and Mid-Range Plans (MRP) to develop detailed Migration Circuit Plans for transport circuits.
  • Engineer Path Solutions: Identify strategic "turn points" in existing paths and design new equipment routes from the turn point to the core site.
  • Execute Grooming Plans: Prepare precision design updates and circuit groom cutsheets, ensuring zero-to-minimal impact on service availability.
  • Reclaim Capacity: Audit the network to remove "stranded" cross-connects and decommission circuits with 0% utilization to pave the way for new growth.
  • Collaborate & Solve: Act as the technical lead in resolving JEOPS (Joint Engineering & Operations) gaps and planning hurdles.
