About The Position

This role offers the opportunity to manage, maintain, and optimize enterprise network and server infrastructure in a high-security, mission-driven environment. The Network Engineer will be responsible for administering Windows servers, network devices, and security systems while ensuring performance, reliability, and compliance. You will troubleshoot complex issues, implement best practices, and collaborate with IT teams to maintain operational excellence. This position requires hands-on expertise in Cisco/Meraki cloud and on-premises solutions, as well as strong knowledge of Windows environments. By maintaining and enhancing critical infrastructure, you will play a direct role in enabling organizational efficiency, security, and continuity.

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of experience in systems administration or network engineering.
  • Strong experience with Cisco/Meraki cloud and on-premises device management.
  • Proficiency in Windows server administration, including WSUS and Active Directory management.
  • In-depth understanding of networking principles and protocols, including routing, switching, and security.
  • Familiarity with group policies, server performance monitoring, and optimization techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with Multi-Factor Authentication (e.g., OKTA, Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator).
  • Strong PowerShell scripting skills and experience with endpoint protection tools (e.g., CrowdStrike).
  • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree and active or prior DHS experience.
  • Preferred certifications: MCSE, MCSA, or Windows Server Administration certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain Windows server infrastructure, including WSUS, Active Directory, and related services.
  • Manage, configure, and troubleshoot Cisco/Meraki cloud and on-premises devices, including switches, routers, wireless access points, and security appliances.
  • Monitor and optimize server and network performance, ensuring high availability and throughput.
  • Implement and enforce security and compliance best practices across systems and network infrastructure.
  • Provide guidance and support to IT staff while fostering collaboration across teams.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging Windows and Meraki technologies, applying best practices where applicable.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues and proactively identify risks or areas for improvement.
