The Network Engineer III is responsible for operating and maintaining the company's internal data communications systems, planning, designing, and implementing complex local and wide-area network solutions between multiple platforms and protocols (including IP and VOIP). This role involves advanced support and troubleshooting of network issues, performance optimization, and coordination with vendors for the installation and maintenance of network devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls. Additionally, the Network Engineer III will be involved in network automation, scripting, and the implementation of network virtualization technologies.

  • Operate and maintain the company's internal data communications systems.
  • Plan, design, and implement complex local and wide-area network solutions between multiple platforms and protocols, including IP and VOIP.
  • Provide advanced support and troubleshooting for network issues to ensure minimal downtime and optimal performance.
  • Coordinate with vendors for the installation and maintenance of network devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Monitor network performance and security, utilizing network monitoring tools.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of network policies and procedures.
  • Maintain documentation of network configurations, processes, and service records.
  • Stay updated with the latest networking technologies and industry trends.
  • Optimize network performance and ensure network security through the use of technologies such as VPN, IDS/IPS.
  • Design and implement network automation and scripting solutions (e.g., Python, Ansible).
  • Implement and manage network virtualization technologies (e.g., SDN, VXLAN).
  • Requires Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree or Masters +3 yrs experience).
  • Typically 5+ years of related experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of advanced routing protocols (e.g., EIGRP, IS-IS).
  • Proficiency in designing and implementing complex network architectures.
  • Experience with network automation and scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible).
  • Understanding of Quality of Service (QoS) principles.
  • Knowledge of network virtualization technologies (e.g., SDN, VXLAN).
  • Certifications: CCNP or higher (e.g., CCIE).
  • Extensive experience with network design and implementation, including multi-vendor environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex network issues.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, with experience in leading technical projects.
  • Proficiency in network security practices and tools, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and VPNs.
  • Advanced knowledge of VOIP systems and protocols, including SIP and RTP.
  • Experience with network performance tuning and optimization techniques.
  • Familiarity with cloud networking solutions and integration (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Hands-on experience with network management and monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios).
