About The Position

Under the direction of the Network Services Department, this position is responsible for providing technical support in the installation, maintenance, and repair of the school division's servers, hyperconverged infrastructure, networking devices, security systems, software, and all related technology equipment. This role provides advanced support, consultation, and troubleshooting for all district users, including teachers, staff, students, and administrators, particularly with Microsoft server environments, Rubrik backup systems, VMware virtualization, SolarWinds, Avigilon security camera servers, Cisco Hyperflex, and Nutanix platforms. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Network Services Manager.

Requirements

  • Proficient working knowledge of: Microsoft Windows Server systems and Active Directory.
  • DHCP and DNS knowledge.
  • VMware ESXi and vCenter administration.
  • Nutanix Prism administration.
  • Hyperconverged infrastructure solutions, specifically Cisco Hyperflex and Nutanix.
  • Rubrik backup and recovery solutions.
  • Avigilon security camera server systems.
  • Familiarity with SolarWinds.
  • Ethernet switched networks, TCP/IP addressing, and routing.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and configuration knowledge of servers, hyperconverged systems, and networked environments.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, technical, and professional skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals, solve complex problems independently, and maintain detailed documentation.
  • Ability to present or explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong understanding and experience in: Microsoft network services, account administration, client configuration, application deployment, DHCP, and DNS.
  • Linux server systems basics.
  • Server troubleshooting (hardware, Windows OS, TCP/IP networking).
  • Experience with high availability, disaster recovery configurations, and backup/restore operations using Rubrik.
  • Skilled in writing system documentation, project plans, technical reports, and training materials.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, technical, and professional skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals, solve complex problems independently, and maintain detailed documentation.
  • Ability to present or explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Associate’s degree (Bachelor’s preferred) in computer science, computer information systems, or related field, or multiple years of server and network support experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to drive; stand; walk; climb; balance; bend; stoop; kneel; twist/turn; push/pull up to fifty (50) pounds; lift/move up to twenty (20) pounds for at least 35 feet.
  • Normal office environment risks.
  • Work is subject to changing requirements, frequent interruptions, and demands from multiple users requiring immediate support.
  • It may involve after-hours and weekend work.

Nice To Haves

  • Industry certifications such as Network+, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, VMware VCP, Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP), Rubrik Certified Administrator (RCA) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the functionality, maintenance, and support of administrative and instructional technology, including Microsoft Servers, VMware environments, and Rubrik backup systems.
  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain servers, hyperconverged clusters (Hyperflex and Nutanix), operating systems, and software applications according to district standards.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and system recovery services for Microsoft Server OS, virtualized environments, and storage.
  • Administer backup and disaster recovery processes utilizing Rubrik systems.
  • Maintain and manage Avigilon security camera servers, coordinating with physical security staff and Infrastructure as needed.
  • Support Hyperflex and Nutanix clusters, including capacity management, performance tuning, and firmware/software upgrades.
  • Direct efforts of Network Engineers engaged in diagnosing and correcting system issues.
  • Regularly collaborate with database administrators, analysts, other system administrators, and users regarding current and future system requirements.
  • Maintain accurate system documentation and helpdesk records.
  • Provide support and training to site-based technical staff.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of system-wide technology projects, server migrations, and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Engage vendors for major deployment projects and support contracts.
  • Serve on-call during nights and weekends for urgent technology issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Network Services Manager.
