As a Network Engineer III at Spectrum, you will design protocol compatibility standards, develop network enhancements, recommend improvements, and be responsible for implementing network architecture and designs. This role requires the ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future.

  • Participate in network planning, network architecture design and engineering
  • Integrate and schematically depict communication architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signaling links and protocols into complete network configurations
  • Evaluate new products, perform network problem resolution
  • Assist in the development and documentation of technical standards
  • Develop and implement approved methods of procedure
  • Design and establish protocol compatibility standards, develop and implement network enhancements and make recommendations for improvement
  • Work on projects/systems/issues of medium to high complexity surrounding network planning, configuration and optimization
  • Provide escalated tier support across organizations and to third party vendors
  • Work on one or more projects as a project team member, occasionally as a project team lead
  • Adhere to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, a related field or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience in Optical Transport Deployment
  • Experience with an optical network provider, or vendor acting in an operations or engineering role
  • Experience in building optical networking infrastructure and/or optical networking equipment/systems
  • 3+ years of experience with the operation, administration, and maintenance of Optical transport networks
  • Experience with routing protocols, optical transport systems, provisioning and troubleshooting equipment
  • Strong familiarity with OTN, SONET, DWDM
  • English communication skills
  • Ability to self-manage multiple tasks simultaneously across various job assignments
  • Ability to maintain accurate ticket status, work in a fast-paced environment, under pressure, with strict deadlines
  • Ability to execute work on live customer circuits with skillset to avoid workman caused outages
  • Ability to work in a 24/7 on-call rotation as needed to support trouble tickets and break/fix
  • CCNP, OCP, NONC or other industry-specific certifications
