About The Position

The Network Engineer II will serve as an experienced professional responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and monitoring network infrastructure devices and systems. This includes routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, load balancers, and security solutions. The role involves analyzing and designing solutions to resolve system issues and develop innovative approaches. Close collaboration with the IT department and other business peers is essential.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and technologies.
  • Working knowledge of access control list configuration and principles.
  • Hands-on experience with switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs, load balancers.
  • Familiarity with IP addressing schemes and VLAN configuration.
  • Working Knowledge of how to configure and implement ACLs (access control lists) to control network access and traffic.
  • Ability to document network configurations, topology, and processes effectively.
  • Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to read and interpret network topology diagrams.
  • Network monitoring, analysis and troubleshooting expertise.
  • Operating system experience (Windows Server, Linux).
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals and best practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology field
  • 4 years’ experience in lieu of degree

Responsibilities

  • Installs, configures, upgrades, and maintains routers, switches, controllers, and other network hardware and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Performs complex network infrastructure technical support, including network optimization, capacity planning, or troubleshooting post-implementation network issues.
  • Creates and maintains documentation for network architectural diagrams, configurations, policies, and procedures.
  • Adheres to policies, procedures, documentation standards, budgets, and resource plans for network infrastructure and operations.
  • Works closely across IT teams to coordinate changes, upgrades, and new deployments across network infrastructure, systems, and applications.
  • Makes recommendations for network infrastructure optimization, security policies, and purchase requirements.
  • Supports cybersecurity vulnerability management and governance adherence.
  • Monitors network performance metrics and infrastructure health indicators to ensure optimal functioning.
  • Position will be required to travel to remote locations as needed for troubleshooting or preventative maintenance with the possibility of overnight stay.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally to implement network initiatives.
  • Own and manage medium-scale network projects.
  • Progress complex tasks even when dealing with ambiguity.
  • Performs installations, upgrades, migrations of network infrastructure.
  • Manages infrastructure changes, additions, and refreshes.
  • Conducts performance analyses of network systems.
  • Automates network management tasks using scripting or basic coding.
  • Recommends and implements optimization initiatives.
  • Position will be required to provide after-hours support as needed.
  • Clearly articulates complex technical details to stakeholders.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
