About The Position

Travelers is seeking a Network Engineer I to join our organization as we grow and transform our Enterprise Technology Solutions organization. Our Network Engineers orchestrate high-performance network topologies, implements redundant architectures for business continuity, establishes security frameworks through firewalls, and leverages automation and Infrastructure as Code methodologies to enable rapid, consistent network provisioning. By creating resilient, scalable, and secure network foundations, Network Engineering directly impacts the organization's operational capabilities, digital transformation initiatives, and ability to deliver seamless technology experiences to both internal and external customers across increasingly complex hybrid and multi-cloud environments. We are seeking a talented network professional with experience in enterprise IP networks and a passion for network security. The ideal candidate will bring demonstrated expertise with Next Generation Firewall platforms supporting Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), including Checkpoint, Palo Alto, or ZScaler. You should be well-versed in authentication systems such as RADIUS, TACACS, and Microsoft Entra, along with proficiency in essential protocols including IPSec, EAP/TLS, 802.1X, and SAML. In this role, you'll help design and implement large-scale network infrastructures that leverage automation for enhanced efficiency and support. Strong automation capabilities are highly desirable, including experience with API development and testing tools like Postman, version control with Git, and scripting proficiency in Python or Ansible. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, related STEM field, or its equivalent in work experience plus 2 years of network engineering experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) years of network engineering/administration experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated track record of network expertise including the ability to understand network concepts necessary to do the job effectively, demonstrate willingness, cooperation, and concern for business issues, and possess in-depth knowledge of immediate network systems worked on.
  • Intermediate delivery skills including the ability to deliver network work at a steady, predictable pace to achieve commitments, decompose network assignments into small batch deployments, and contribute to network architecture tradeoff and negotiation discussions.
  • Proven problem-solving skills including network debugging abilities, allowing you to determine source of issues in unfamiliar network systems or environments, ability to recognize and solve repetitive network problems proactively and permanently, recognize mistakes using them as learning opportunities, and break down large network problems into smaller, more manageable ones.
  • Strong communication skills that enable clear, concise interactions with team members and stakeholders.
  • Your ability to document network work in an accessible manner, ask clarifying questions on requirements, and actively listen ensures seamless collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for performing analysis, design, and implementation of network infrastructure platforms across cloud and on-premises environments with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Day to day responsibilities will include participation in design and planning sessions, providing consultation to colleagues and customers, researching and testing proposed solutions, auditing environment for compliance with standards, and providing production support with incident response.
  • Technical Execution: Define and implement technical requirements for network infrastructure solutions using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) methodologies.
  • Design network deployment automation workflows while performing analysis and resolution for infrastructure issues of intermediate complexity.
  • Configure and optimize cloud-based and on-premises network systems ensuring connectivity reliability, availability, and performance.
  • Implement monitoring systems for network infrastructure while ensuring adherence to security protocols for both cloud and on-premises systems.
  • Collaborate with Infrastructure Engineers to optimize network infrastructure performance across hybrid environments.
  • Strategic Input: Work independently on well-scoped network infrastructure engineering problems while prioritizing according to business objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
