The Network Engineer I position at Altafiber is a full-time role based in Ohio, OH, focused on maintaining and troubleshooting network devices and services. This role requires collaboration with various departments to ensure the smooth operation of network infrastructure. The engineer will be responsible for ensuring that critical equipment such as routers, radios, switches, DC power devices, and firewalls are functioning correctly. The position also involves routing data through the network to maintain stability and assist the Engineering Manager with the design and implementation of network deployments. In addition to technical responsibilities, the Network Engineer I will serve as a point of contact for the Network Operations Center (NOC) and Field Engineers, providing guidance and troubleshooting support for network issues. This includes training staff in troubleshooting techniques and updating NOC cases to determine necessary fieldwork and maintenance windows. The engineer will also interface with equipment and network providers to ensure compatibility between devices and services, and will work on various projects as assigned. Availability for occasional off-hours support is also a requirement of this position.
