HII Mission Technologies is seeking a skilled Network Engineer to support our customer in Chesapeake, VA to implement, manage and maintain our network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in hardware/software troubleshooting and configuration, reporting and maintaining technical expertise in areas of network and computer hardware connections. This position is contingent upon contract award.

  • Leads by taking responsibility for ensuring the AEGIS Tactical Local Area Network (LAN) is operational and available.
  • Reports to the AWS Engineering Lead and coordinates with the CSPE, O&M Lead, Test Coordinator and Test Director for Tactical LAN Test related matters.
  • Perform tactical LAN equipment suites, setup configurations, equipment interfaces and data extraction requirements.
  • Handle proper activation and operation of the Tactical LAN computing environment including OE, configuration and computer program operation and interface with other elements.
  • Serve as the Tactical LAN Network Administrator and AWS System Administrator.
  • Identify and resolve Tactical LAN equipment and computer program issues.
  • Analyze test results and findings as necessary for the functional tests involving the Tactical LAN.
  • Provide engineering support for the interfaces and capabilities and limitations.
  • Prepare for computer program and/or equipment changes as necessary to support ship test and integration program.
  • Analyze pre-availability baseline test packages and resolve discrepancies.
  • Review ICDs, SIDs and LARs relating to LAN.
  • Review existing test procedures and recommend changes.
  • Interface with equipment In-Service Engineering Agencies (ISEA), and Software Support Activities (SSA) as required in preparation for tests.
  • Identify necessary special recording devices, special instrumentation, and data collection media that will be required to support the tests.
  • Identify all Special Test Equipment required and ensure plan is in place to have on site and calibrated as required to meet test schedule.
  • Ensure Tactical LAN equipment is properly configured for each test event.
  • Maintain tactical computer configuration and shipboard implementation of configuration changes required to support testing and troubleshooting.
  • Implement shipboard passwords and password policy.
  • Provide support for crew preparations for trials.
  • Participate/perform data collection and analysis for summary report.
  • Document test procedure discrepancies for future revision.
  • Fault Isolate Tactical LAN problems.
  • Ensure Tactical LAN hardware discrepancies are documented utilizing the Electronic Material Assessment Form (EMAF) process to ensure 2K generation IAW the JFMM.
  • Ensure Tactical LAN software discrepancies are documented utilizing the Test Observation Report (TOR) process.
  • Initiate fleet feedback response for documentation or hardware issues (i.e. TMDER, TFBR etc) when applicable.
  • Provide ships force with equipment, operations and maintenance familiarization.
  • Assist yard and installation team in LAN equipment modernization.
  • Provide Tactical LAN status reports as required to the CSPE, TC, and AWS Engineering Lead.
  • Analyze Tactical LAN data and provide findings in final report.
  • Maintain current status of all unresolved Tactical LAN TORs and provide recommendation to CSPE on steps to resolve TORs.
  • Provide inputs to CSPE for Lesson Learned Report throughout availability.
  • Provide EOA summary report to CSPE.
  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • 10+ years experience in Network Systems Engineering.
  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, or a relevant field; Candidate must have an undergraduate degree from an ABET accredited program.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Strong understanding of network infrastructure and hardware.
  • Proficiency in networking protocols and services.
  • Hands-on experience identifying and resolving LAN equipment and computer program issues.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
