About The Position

The Baltimore City Office of Broadband and Digital Equity is seeking an experienced Network Wireless Engineer to play a crucial role in the design, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex computer systems and networks within the organization. This position is integral to ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the wireless network infrastructure that supports various services across multiple buildings. The Network Wireless Engineer will be responsible for responding to Service Desk trouble tickets, managing related issues, and completing work request activities submitted via the Service Request System. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying, diagnosing, and resolving wireless network communication issues, collaborating closely with the Network Administrator and Telephony team to address network and VoIP challenges. Key responsibilities include performing wireless RF site surveys, designing and operating an enterprise-class Wi-Fi network, and maintaining, optimizing, and troubleshooting wireless enterprise network services, which encompass data, voice, location, and security. The engineer will configure, administer, install, and upgrade network infrastructure components while remotely managing complex TCP/IP networks using routers and switches. Additionally, the role involves creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation related to the network infrastructure and recommending, testing, scheduling, and implementing upgrades to enhance network performance. The essential functions of this position include the design, integration, testing, installation, and support of the BCIT BDE wireless network infrastructure. The engineer will lead wireless network engineering services in support of Customer WAN, LAN, and WLAN data networks, perform routed/switched network design activities on various platforms, and work with client support technicians to provide tailored solutions for customers' wireless communications needs. The role also requires the preparation of schematics to define and illustrate wireless network design solutions, as well as the creation of work orders with instructions for client support technicians to configure network hardware and software. Proactive monitoring of the network using advanced management software and tools is also a critical aspect of this position.
