Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector has an opening for a Network Engineer to join our BOA/OPIR/ESL organization in Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado. This role will cover network engineering support across labs within the BOA/OPIR/ESL team at Schriever Space Force Base. This role is responsible for providing support to software integration lab and for end-to-end communication including responsibility for making network changes to the system, enhancing and improving the network system and architecture, troubleshooting complex network issues, resolving the discovered bugs, and ensuring the network is available 100% of the time. The successful candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and possesses strong written and verbal communication skills. The candidate should thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a geographically diverse team. Due to the classified nature of this role, the selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility. There is no remote / hybrid / telework available for this position.

  • Provide network engineering support across labs within the BOA/OPIR/ESL team.
  • Support software integration lab and ensure end-to-end communication.
  • Make network changes to the system and enhance/improve network architecture.
  • Troubleshoot complex network issues and resolve discovered bugs.
  • Ensure network availability 100% of the time.
  • Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of related engineering experience; OR a master's degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of related engineering experience; OR 6 years in lieu of degree.
  • Active DoD 8140 approved IAT Level II (or higher) compliant certification.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP, IPv4 addressing and network design including IP subnetting, VLANs, Spanning Tree, Nexus VPC and static/dynamic routing protocols.
  • Understanding of the OSI model and how to use it to troubleshoot network issues.
  • Experience with firewall management and configuration with Cisco FirePower, ASA, Fortigate.
  • Understanding of DNS and network device configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools such as Visio and Power Point.
  • Good understanding and knowledge of network security features like IP access-lists.
  • Current DOD Secret Clearance required to start.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility preferred.
  • Professional certification specific to the networking industry such as CCNA or higher.
  • Experience with Cisco technologies like Nexus switches, ACI Fabrics, Catalyst switches.
  • Experience with data center architecture.
  • Understanding of network automation scripting using Ansible, Python, Bash, and Shell.
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies like VMware and their associated networking solutions (e.g. NSX).
  • Understanding of advanced features like MPLS, QoS, Multicast.
  • Familiar with network management applications, like SolarWinds, SuzieQ, Splunk, and/or Cisco ISE.
  • Familiar with Windows, Linux, VMWare configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with HAIPE/TACLANE encryptors and other military COMSEC/CRYPTO equipment and procedures.
  • Familiar with network emulator tools such as EVE-NG, GNS3, Cisco Modeling Lab (CML), Virtual Internet Routing Lab (VIRL).
  • Working knowledge of DISA security STIGs and maintaining security best practices.
  • Experience with tools like Jira, Bitbucket, Gitlab, GitHub.
