The Network Development Engineer role within AWS Infrastructure Services focuses on designing and implementing next-generation SDWAN/Edge networks using cloud-based technologies. This position is crucial for ensuring the stability and sustainability of AWS's global infrastructure, which supports all data centers and networking operations. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to automate network deployments, improve processes, and maintain high standards for network performance and security.

  • Design the next generation of SDWAN/Edge network using cloud-based technologies such as Transit Gateway, NAT gateways, AWS Network Firewall, and others.
  • Automate the deployment of network devices and gateways using infrastructure as code across all network fabrics.
  • Deploy, scale, and automate the network across global POP locations and multiple AWS regions.
  • Create simple, repeatable deployment processes and improve existing processes.
  • Collaborate with Network/Systems/Software Engineering teams for smooth roll-out of new designs and products.
  • Create and update network standards and ensure compliance during deployment.
  • Work with automation teams to define platforms and frameworks for scaling operations.
  • Create and review documentation regarding network implementation, deployments, and standard operating procedures.
  • Lead design, network/code, and security reviews to identify risks and prevent bugs prior to production release.
  • 4+ years of experience with major internet routing protocols.
  • 4+ years of experience in developing engineering, deployment, or operations mechanisms for IP networks.
  • 4+ years of experience in a technical on-call capacity, responding to customer-impacting events.
  • 1+ years of experience in automation using Bash/shell scripting and Perl/Python programming.
  • Thorough understanding of TCP/IP networking, IP routing, and Network Security architecture.
  • Experience with routers, server load balancers, and firewall vendor platforms such as Cisco, Juniper, and Palo Alto.
  • In-depth knowledge of networking and/or systems technologies.
