The Network Development Engineer role at Amazon focuses on building, deploying, and scaling the networks that support AWS and its customers across multiple global data centers.   • Perform high quality network and/or systems operations, deployments, scaling, and technology refresh.
  • Create and implement changes on the network.
  • Work closely with automation teams to define scaling tools.
  • Lead network projects in sustaining engineering, deployment, scaling, and optimization.
  • Provide critical network support to diagnose and resolve large-scale networking events.
  • Operate and troubleshoot network routing, interconnectivity, and performance issues.
  • Drive and support innovation across the network infrastructure.
  • Partner with the broader Network/Infrastructure organization on engineering and configuration standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams for smooth roll-out of new designs and products.
  • Maintain compliance with networking standards and policies.
  • Deliver simple, sustainable, and repeatable solutions and processes.
  • Create and review documentation regarding network implementations and procedures.
  • 4+ years experience in a network-focused technical role with IP routing protocols in large scale data center or WAN environments.
  • 4+ years experience developing engineering, deployment, or operations mechanisms for IP networks.
  • 4+ years experience in a technical on-call capacity for customer impacting events.
  • 1+ years of experience in automation via Bash/shell scripting and Perl/Python programming.
  • Thorough understanding of TCP/IP networking, IP routing, and Network Security architecture.
  • Experience with router, server load balancer, and firewall vendor platforms such as Cisco, Juniper, and Palo Alto.
  • In-depth knowledge of networking and/or systems technologies.
  • Knowledge of network hardware and packet forwarding architectures.
  • Scripting skills or a desire to learn Python, Perl, or Shell.
