The Network Development Engineer at AWS Networking is responsible for deploying and automating network infrastructure across various services, including Amazon Retail, Kindle, and Payments. This role requires strong project management skills and the ability to design scalable solutions while troubleshooting complex network issues. The ideal candidate will work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with internal teams to ensure high-quality network deployment and maintenance.

  • Deploy network infrastructure across all network fabrics supporting various AWS services.
  • Automate and scale the network across multiple global datacenters.
  • Drive scaling of current network designs to meet customer demand.
  • Create simple, repetitive deployment processes to enhance velocity and quality.
  • Collaborate with internal customers on designs and solutions from concept to production.
  • Update network standards and ensure compliance during deployment.
  • Implement changes on the network and work with automation teams to define scaling tools.
  • 2+ years professional experience in large scale networking environments.
  • 2+ years experience with internet routing protocols and concepts: TCP/IP, BGP, MPLS, ISIS, and/or OSPF.
  • 2+ years experience with network operating systems such as Cisco IOS and Junos.
  • 2+ years experience in automation via Bash/shell scripting and Perl/Python programming.
  • Strong knowledge of network analysis fundamentals and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with major router platforms including Cisco and Juniper.
  • Excellent IP networking fundamentals and experience with IP protocols.
  • Strong Unix skills and ability to script in Perl, shell, C, or C++.
  • Experience with protocols & technologies such as DWDM, SONET, VLANs, IPv4 & IPv6, and VPNs.
