About The Position

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a Network Dev Engineer II to lead network projects in various areas including network sustaining engineering, deployment, scaling, technology refresh, and optimization. The role involves creating and implementing changes on the network, troubleshooting network issues, and providing critical support to AWS customers. The engineer will also mentor junior staff and work on automating networking tasks.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Network Engineering, or a related field.
• One year of experience in the job offered or as a Software Engineer, Software Developer, or a related occupation.
• Experience in IP networking fundamentals and application of IP protocols.
• Knowledge of protocols and technologies including 802.2/3, 802.1d VLANs/STP, IPv4 & IPv6, TCP, BGP, OSPF, HSRP/GLBP, PIMv2, IGMP, LDP, TACACS, VPNs, MPLS, DNS, and HTTP.
• Experience in automation via Bash or Shell Scripting and programming with Perl or Python.
• Ability to document and coordinate deployment of manual and automated tests for complex systems.
• Willingness to provide 24/7 operational support.

Responsibilities

• Lead network projects in network sustaining engineering, deployment, scaling, technology refresh, and optimization.
• Create and implement changes on the network.
• Operate and troubleshoot network routing, interconnectivity, platforms, performance, and configuration issues.
• Provide critical network operations support to AWS internal and external customers.
• Support and maintain next generation data-center networks.
• Deliver simple, sustainable, and repeatable solutions to mitigate complex issues.
• Identify and troubleshoot recurring platform issues.
• Complete customer requests via internal trouble ticketing systems.
• Automate repeatable networking tasks through scripts and tools.
• Mentor junior staff in basic network administration.
