About The Position

The Network / Desktop Support Technician position at the Washington Military Department is an entry-level role focused on providing tier 1 and tier 2 technical support for desktop computer hardware, software, and mobile devices. The technician will apply advanced technical knowledge to independently identify and resolve complex issues, ensuring effective support for agency staff across the state. This role involves both on-site and remote support, contributing to the agency's mission of public service and community safety.

Requirements

  • Three years of information technology experience in analyzing, designing, programming, or maintaining computer security applications, hardware, telecommunications, or network infrastructure equipment.
  • Two years of experience providing technical consulting and performing installation of IT hardware and software.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Operating systems, Microsoft Office products, and standard Adobe products.

  • Associate degree in computer science or related IT field.
  • CompTIA A+ certification.
  • CompTIA Network+ certification.
  • CompTIA Security+ certification.
  • Dell TechDirect certification.
  • Two years of desktop/end user support experience.
  • One year of network level server management and support experience.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve complex level computer and system issues.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting of computer hardware, mobile devices, operating systems, and software applications.
  • Provide technical desktop support for IT Security response efforts.
  • Troubleshoot software applications and resolve hardware and application problems.
  • Support enterprise network Active Directory and M365 accounts.
  • Troubleshoot user account issues in M365 and Active Directory.
  • Manage mobile device management software and ensure compliance with State policies.
  • Troubleshoot physical layer networking issues and use advanced network analysis tools.
  • Develop detailed technical documentation for software installation and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Track equipment through its lifecycle, including receiving, configuring, and disposing of equipment.
