About The Position

The Satellite Systems Crew Chief (SCCH) at Lockheed Martin's Next Gen Geo (NGG) OPIR Mission Operations Support (NMOS) Team is responsible for overseeing satellite operations, including the roles of Satellite Systems Operator (SSO) and Ground Control Operator (GCO). The SCCH ensures the effective functioning of satellite systems, conducts tests, launches, and early orbit testing of NGG Space Vehicles, and leads a team in operational training and mission support. This role requires a Top Secret security clearance and the ability to work rotational shifts.

Requirements

  • Previous satellite on-console support experience.
  • Must be willing and able to work rotational shift work.
  • Active or Current Final Top-Secret security clearance, with ability to achieve and maintain a TS/SCI clearance; US Citizenship required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous SBIRS/NGG experience with Satellite Ground System and TT&C.
  • Previous experience with Launch and Early Orbit Testing.
  • Well-organized, self-starter able to take direction and work well both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to navigate multiple competing priorities.
  • Experience leading technical teams.
  • Willingness to take on any task regardless of complexity.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with local management and remotely.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Satellite Systems Operator (SSO) and Ground Control Operator (GCO) functions after training.
  • Oversee SSO and GCO while performing satellite operations.
  • Conduct commanding and State of Health (SOH) activities for space assets.
  • Monitor satellite telemetry for proper vehicle performance and evaluate TT&C alarms.
  • Coordinate with GCO for ground hardware configuration for satellite commanding.
  • Perform all ground system activities and conduct positional changeover.
  • Configure and maintain the Ground Control application.
  • Monitor ground software/hardware status and provide ground status to operational team members.
  • Perform Fault Detection Fault Isolation (FDFI) recovery actions when required.
  • Support playbacks for analysis and conduct Satellite Control Network and Relay Ground Station supports.
