About The Position

Join our Network & Cable Decommissioning (NCD) team as a highly motivated, self-driven technician responsible for safely retiring and removing legacy network infrastructure. This role involves dismantling outdated equipment, managing cable infrastructure recovery, and ensuring secure disposal of IT assets including servers, firewalls, switches, and storage devices across central offices and remote sites. The NCD team focuses on reclaiming capacity for customers by safely removing decommissioned legacy network equipment and cabling infrastructure. This lifecycle approach maximizes utilization of our 10 central offices and facilities. You'll work alongside a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers, collaborating across government programs to deliver the highest safety and security standards while providing cost-effective solutions.

Requirements

  • active Secret security clearance
  • Candidates must be comfortable working at heights, including ladders and aerial lifts, and able to safely lift 40 pounds while maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Execute physical decommissioning of cabling infrastructure in Central Office environments
  • Manage work assignments and priorities through ticketing systems and established workflows
  • Provide regular status updates to stakeholders via ticketing systems and bi-weekly PowerPoint presentations
  • Coordinate and deliver multiple concurrent tasks effectively
  • Maintain quality workmanship standards and Central Office cleanliness
  • Utilize logical tools and systems efficiently
  • Adhere to all production, safety, quality standards, codes, and industry best practices
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and resolve obstacles
  • Interpret CO build documentation and site-specific layout materials
  • Scope assigned efforts, validate decommissioning readiness, create change requests, and execute timely completion
  • Document all activities through the ticketing system
  • Prepare equipment for disposal and perform degaussing/destruction of SSDs and HDDs
  • Support hazardous materials handling when required
