About The Position

The Network Architect will lead and oversee a team of highly skilled engineers responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining advanced network and satellite communication systems. This role combines strategic technical leadership, hands-on engineering expertise, and a strong focus on information security. The Engineering Manager will foster innovation, ensure system integrity, and drive operational excellence while maintaining compliance with industry and customer security standards.

Requirements

  • Must have an active TS/SCI level with poly level clearance.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in network and satellite communications engineering, including VSAT systems.
  • 4+ years of experience in a technical leadership or engineering management role.
  • Expertise in network architecture design and deployment.
  • Proficiency with network security practices and tools, including firewalls and encryption technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of Cisco networking equipment (routers, switches, firewalls).
  • Experience with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds and Riverbed.
  • Familiarity with information security protocols and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong understanding of virtualization technologies, including Hyper-V and VMware.
  • Technical certifications such as CCNP, CISSP, or similar are highly desired.
  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. (with assistance) and travel overseas up to 25% of the year.
  • Ability to work on rooftops, in server rooms, and in potentially austere environments.
  • Willingness to support flexible scheduling based on mission requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, deployment, and optimization of complex network and satellite communication systems, including VSAT installations.
  • Provide strategic direction and mentorship to the engineering team, fostering technical growth and best practices.
  • Oversee system architecture development, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
  • Develop and maintain secure, functional network architectures, integrating satellite communication systems and supporting infrastructure.
  • Conduct site surveys, create Bill of Materials (BOM), and manage procurement processes.
  • Configure, deploy, and troubleshoot network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls (Cisco ASA/Firepower), and VSAT systems.
  • Ensure network integrity through performance monitoring and proactive maintenance.
  • Implement and maintain robust information security practices across all engineering projects.
  • Ensure compliance with security protocols and standards, safeguarding sensitive data and communication channels.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to assess vulnerabilities and deploy security solutions.
  • Plan and manage engineering resources, including staff assignments, scheduling, and workload distribution.
  • Track project timelines and ensure on-time delivery of critical network and communication solutions.
  • Develop technical documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Lead the response to system issues, ensuring rapid resolution to maintain operational continuity.
  • Serve as a key liaison between engineering teams, program management, and customers.
  • Communicate technical concepts and project status to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Support the development and execution of unfunded requirement initiatives.
