About The Position

The Network and Low Voltage Wiring Technician III performs a variety of tasks related to the installation and decommissioning of network and low voltage wiring. This position will be responsible for supporting the tasks related to the implementation of network and structured cabling solutions. Primary duties include the installation, maintenance, and support of network and low voltage wiring projects. This role also will assist with process improvement, scheduling, inventory levels, standardization, and overall efficiencies of the network and low voltage wiring team where needed. The position is responsible for all components needed to support data or voice communications using various kinds of cable, most commonly category 5 (CAT5e) and category 6 (CAT6a), fiber, patch panels, and modular connectors. The work to be performed includes the testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of completed wiring installations. The Network and Low Voltage Wiring Technician III will lead work area setup, wire paths, endpoint terminations, penetrations, and documentation. Additional duties include advising team members and leadership of any changes to the scope of the project and any issues that arise on the job. This position works with the assistance of other skilled tradespersons in the completion of complex tasks that relate to the overall structured cabling project. The Network and Low Voltage Wiring Technician III will be responsible, in conjunction with the supervisor, for the coordination with the facilities and work units to maximize the productivity of the team while minimizing the disruption in areas that will be affected. A high level of organizational, communication, and documentation skills is required for this position.

Requirements

  • High School/GED
  • 5 years of progressively more responsible work experience in fields related to networking, maintenance, and/or construction
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to read blueprints and other construction related documentation.
  • Knowledge and adherence to relevant infection control policies and procedures, as well as all applicable building, fire, and life safety codes.
  • Some form of technical accreditation in a related field.
  • Experience in information technology customer service.
  • Experience with key OSF applications/technology
