About The Position

The Network and Communications Technician supports, maintains, and optimizes network data and communication systems, including radio networks, Wi‑Fi, fiber, automation systems, and fleet hardware. This role ensures network reliability for operational effectiveness and assists with installation, troubleshooting, network equipment maintenance, and technology repairs. The role works a 7/7 roster on dayshift only.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years’ experience in the management of industrial data and digital radio networks
  • Competent with network and radio software and equipment troubleshooting.
  • Strong problem‑solving, communication, and organizational skills.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see.
  • Must be able to work shift work with 12-hour shifts.
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday.
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment, including hart hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves, and any other protective equipment as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Rajant networks or underground leaky feeders is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with fiber optic installations and repair preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and diagnose issues in the wireless networks, digital radio, and OT network infrastructure.
  • Conduct field surveys to assess network coverage and identify improvement needs.
  • Install, repair, and maintain communications equipment, access points, radios, and related hardware.
  • Coordinate with operations, IT, controllers, and supervisors to resolve performance issues.
  • Support planning for network configuration, trailer moves, and network equipment placement.
  • Maintain proper documentation and contribute to daily/weekly operational planning.
  • As required support onboard MineStar systems, and autonomous equipment.
