Works under the direction of the Director of IT Infrastructure; this position requires a high degree of technical, customer service, teamwork, and organizational skills to support Loretto network operations. The position requires the ability to function independently and in team environments.

  • Perform a wide range of network administration duties including installations, debugging, maintenance, upgrades, and general support for Cisco network equipment.
  • Evaluate, test, and deploy all software and hardware upgrades to the networking infrastructure.
  • Assist in the configuration and deployment of core and peripheral network devices, which will require continuous learning of new devices.
  • Proactive monitoring of all network devices, services, and servers using a combination of tools to ensure high availability and SLA's in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collect and review network utilization data for capacity and planning purposes.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, testing, and maintaining disaster recovery plans.
  • Interface with vendors for procurement & maintenance of all Loretto network infrastructures.
  • Manage & troubleshoot network and Internet connectivity throughout the organization.
  • Work closely with fellow Loretto IT Department team members to provide end-user support and issue resolutions.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging network tools and technologies.
  • Research, evaluate and recommend network technologies to support business requirements.
  • Rigorously create and maintain documentation for all processes and procedures.
  • Collaborate with and support the work of other staff engaged in support functions.
  • Attend and actively participate in weekly meetings.
  • Coordinate with the rest of the Loretto team to meet the corporate goals and team objectives.
  • Provide emergency 24 x 7 on-call support to address network issues.
  • Lift network devices to install in racks and deploy battery backup devices that may weigh up to 50 lbs.
  • Serve in an On-call position on a rotating basis in the IT department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Degree in Networking, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related work experience.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a Network Engineering role, preferably with Cisco network equipment.
  • Proven experience working with networking equipment specifically, including maintenance, upgrades and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to utilize packet capturing tools such as Wireshark and TCPDUMP to diagnose network issues.
  • Working knowledge of Cisco Unified Communications systems and Cisco Wireless networks are a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Firewall / VPN (Check Point is a plus) and security concepts.
  • CCNA and CCDA are a plus.
  • Significant experience working with Linux based OS, Microsoft Windows servers and network monitoring tools.
  • Strong knowledge of LAN and WAN networking, including: TCP/IP, VLANs, Ethernet, switching and Spanning Tree, routing and routing protocols (i.e. OSPF), 802.1Q, ACLs, GRE, SIP, DHCP and DNS.
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to research & solve complex issues independently.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new skills and apply them as needed.
  • Ability to effectively communicate issues and resolutions to all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive customer and internal information.
  • Consistent access to reliable transportation.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.
  • Pay range: $91,936.00 - $100,256.00/annually based on experience
