While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, use hands to touch, handle, or feel to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally install and inspect network cables in floors and ceilings and must occasionally lift and/or move heavy objects such as computer and peripherals, up to 50 pounds. Occasionally will be required to perform duties outside of the normal business hours and be available on-call. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. (These vision requirements relate to recognizing current Hazmat warning labels that are color coded.)

Requirements

  • High school diploma or the equivalent is required.
  • Associate degree or equivalent training and experience in Network Administration.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant industry experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent technical writing ability.
  • Excellent written, and oral communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to conduct and direct research into networking issues and products as required.
  • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Working knowledge of network and PC operating systems.
  • Extensive application support experience with Microsoft Server Products.
  • Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols and standards.
  • Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience.
  • Good understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and record that conforms to company’s insurance policies, ATF, DOT, and State of other required Hazmat training.
  • Authorized to work in United States.
  • Able to meet ATF & regulatory security requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage servers, including e-mail, print and backup servers and their associated operating systems and software.
  • Manage security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Manage all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, hubs and UPSs.
  • Manage communication systems, including e-mail system, voice and phone systems, and internet access.
  • Ensure network connectivity of all workstations.
  • Administer all equipment, hardware and software upgrades.
  • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
  • Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions and access rights.
  • Perform system backups and recovery.
  • Recommend, schedule and perform network improvements, upgrades and repairs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
