About The Position

The Network Administrator will play a crucial role in supporting and optimizing the organization's network infrastructure. This position involves installing, configuring, and maintaining local and wide area networks, ensuring optimal performance, and troubleshooting connectivity issues. The ideal candidate will collaborate with a team of tech experts to implement innovative solutions and enhance network security.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; or equivalent work experience and/or relevant certifications.
  • A minimum of 3 years of direct hands-on experience in a network administrator role.
  • Strong knowledge of network infrastructure including routers, switches, and associated network protocols and concepts.
  • Proficiency in managing and maintaining Network Operating Systems such as Cisco IOS and Juniper OS.
  • Experience with firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection systems, and network traffic analyzers.
  • Effective knowledge of network security practices and anti-virus programs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and able to perform under pressure.
  • Stellar communication skills to liaise with team members and explain issues to non-technical staff.
  • Certifications like CCNA or CCNP are often advantageous.
  • Understanding of cloud-based network management is a plus.
  • Be physically able to manage and handle network components.
  • Ability to be available for after-hours support and emergencies.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of networking trends, including security and emerging technologies.
  • Ability to manage projects and multi-task effectively.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and ability to travel when necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications like CCNA or CCNP are often advantageous.
  • Understanding of cloud-based network management is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and support an organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and Internet systems.
  • Monitor network performance to determine necessary adjustments and future changes.
  • Perform network maintenance to ensure minimal interruption of services.
  • Collect data to evaluate and optimize network or system performance.
  • Coordinate with network engineers to optimize network performance.
  • Add users to a network and manage security permissions.
  • Train users in the proper use of hardware or software.
  • Troubleshoot network or connectivity problems for users or user groups.
  • Analyze and report network security breaches or attempted breaches.
  • Maintain an inventory of parts for emergency repairs.
  • Research new network technologies to support the organization.
