The Network Administrator Intern position at Texas Farm Bureau Casualty Insurance Company is responsible for maintaining and optimizing network and telecommunications hardware, software, and support systems to maximize network availability and performance. The intern will be involved in various tasks including installing and maintaining network hardware devices, troubleshooting network connectivity and performance issues, and designing Local and Wide Area Network environments that maximize availability, performance, and security. The role also includes maintaining operating systems, updates, and fixes for assigned systems, creating and estimating project task lists, and performing other duties as assigned.

  • Install and maintain network hardware devices, configurations, and support systems.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity and performance issues.
  • Design Local and Wide Area Network environments which maximize availability, performance, and security.
  • Maintain operating systems, updates, and fixes for assigned systems.
  • Create and estimate project task lists.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Associate's Degree or above in a computer-related field.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience.
  • Proficiency in Local and Wide Area Network Technologies.
  • Solid understanding of the OSI Reference Model.
  • Experience with Cisco IOS/NXOS, routing, switching, and security.
  • Knowledge of Wireless Networks and technology (IEEE 802.11).
  • Experience with Firewall Management (PAN and ASA).
  • F5 Big IP Platform knowledge.
  • Understanding of Virtual Private Networks.
  • Familiarity with SDN Technology Concepts.
  • Proficient in TCP/IP networking.
  • Experience with RADIUS, TACACS+, MS NPS, Cisco ACS.
  • Knowledge of Web Filtering technologies and management.
  • Experience with Windows and Linux OS platforms.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with Visio.
  • CCNA, CCNP, and/or comparable industry standard certification.
  • Strong problem solving abilities.
  • Ability and willingness to learn and extend skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Valid Texas driver's license and driving record at the time of hire.
