About The Position

Shermco Industries is seeking a NETA II Field Service Technician to join our team in Denver. The technician will travel to customer sites (industrial & commercial) to inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up and collect data of low, medium and high voltage (480 Volt to 600 kV) electrical systems. Responsibilities include instrument transformer tests, power transformer testing (Doble, TTR, Insulation Resistance, etc.), testing both electro-mechanical and solid state relays, cable testing (Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot), automatic transfer switch troubleshooting, and low, medium and high voltage switchgear and circuit breaker testing. The technician will also perform moderately complex relay calibration and power metering, and rotate emergency on-call duty to respond to customer emergencies in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Must be able to drive daily locally/regionally and be available for periodic overnight travel.
  • Prefer an Associate's degree in Electrical Power & Controls or a EE Degree from an ABET accredited college.
  • NETA Certification (I, II, III or IV) or similar desired.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience performing switchgear testing & troubleshooting.
  • Good PC skills including email, internet, data entry, and Microsoft Excel; experience with PowerDB is a plus.
  • Ability to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Must be willing to travel; minimum 40%.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 30 hour, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED training.
  • Experience in military electrical power production.

Responsibilities
