About The Position

This position is part of our 2026 Summer Intern Program. As a .NET Software Developer Intern, you will be a valued member of a collaborative team of talented software engineers, developers, managers, and clients in a fast paced iterative and agile development environment. The team builds custom web-based tools to improve management of the Department of Defense’s environmental and energy research and development (R&D) programs. The Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for (ODASD) Environment & Energy Resilience (E&ER) establishes policy and governance for programs and activities that enable resilience and cyber-secure energy for weapon systems and installations. This includes budgetary, policy, and management oversight of programs related to climate change, compliance with environmental laws, prevention of pollution, management of natural and cultural resources, and cleanup of contaminated sites, as well as energy resilience, risk, and performance. During the internship you will: Engage in the team's Agile development processes, including planning and standups. Develop a new feature by working closely with the Product Owner and/or requirements analyst to understand the business value of requirements and collaborating with the team to translate these needs into working software Improve software quality through testing and code reviews Participate in release activities Actively participate in team idea-sharing, collaboration, and problem-solving

Requirements

  • A GPA of 3.3 or higher
  • U.S. Citizenship (permanent residents are not eligible for this position)
  • Pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar
  • Familiarity with .NET or C#
  • Basic understanding of object-oriented programming and web development
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to convey technical solutions with the team and create robust documentation

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with HTML/CSS and JavaScript/jQuery
  • Exposure to Angular
  • Familiarity with AWS services (e.g., Lambda, S3)
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot)
  • Experience with version control systems (Git/GitHub)
