An Oracle DBA supporting .NET applications would have responsibilities including: · Connectivity and Configuration: Ensuring proper installation and configuration of the necessary Oracle Client software and ODP.NET drivers on application servers. · User and Schema Management: Creating and managing database users with appropriate privileges for the .NET applications. · Performance Tuning: Optimizing database performance for queries generated by .NET applications, which may use frameworks like Entity Framework Core. · Deployment Support: Assisting developers with the deployment of .NET stored procedures or functions using tools like the Oracle Deployment Wizard for .NET. · Troubleshooting: Diagnosing connectivity issues, performance bottlenecks, and errors that occur between the .NET application and the Oracle database. While traditional DBA tasks (backup, recovery, patching) remain the same, knowledge of the .NET data access architecture is crucial for effective collaboration with development teams and supporting the entire application lifecycle. The demand for DBAs is evolving, with increased focus on cloud, automation, and hybrid-cloud skills. · Monitor Oracle DB performance and provide tuning advice as necessary · Ensure OEM Agent is monitoring and active on all new test, QA and production environments · Provide support during stress testing, production release, and critical events as related to Oracle · Ensure all standards are in place prior to production releases · Ensure Oracle patches are applied to production environments within 60 days of vendor releases · Assist Application teams creating test conditions and results to support expected workloads · Provide any regulatory documentation necessary to meet corporate requirements · Provide support to the Grid Control organization as necessary · Assist Oracle DBA in support of GCS DB Systems · Ensure NRT DB's in test, QA, Prod and DR environments meet all DB standards
