About The Position

As an EEG Technician, you will work in a collaborative environment to deliver excellent patient care under the direction of a licensed clinical professional in a clinic or practice environment. An EEG Tech uses specialized equipment to measure brain abnormalities in patients and monitor nervous system activity.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an accredited neurodiagnostic technology program preferred.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Registered EEG Technologist (R.EEG T.) and/or CNIM/EMG certification preferred or must be obtained within 12-24 months of hire.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in EEG and NCS required.
  • Strong understanding of neuroanatomy and neurophysiology.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient with EMR and neurodiagnostic systems (e.g., Natus, Nihon Kohden).

Nice To Haves

  • EMU experience preferred.
  • Graduate of an AMA approved program for Electroencephalogram preferred.
  • Registered EEG Technologist (American Society of EEG) preferred.
  • Minimum one (1) year of work experience preferred in field of Neuro Diagnostics.
  • Prefer experience with nerve conductions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and portable EEG studies on inpatients and outpatients.
  • Monitor and document patient behavior and clinical symptoms during testing.
  • Annotate recordings for physician interpretation and ensure data accuracy.
  • Apply electrodes and initiate long-term video EEG monitoring.
  • Assist in seizure monitoring and event documentation in the EMU.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff and physicians in providing patient care and safety.
  • Conduct NCS procedures under physician supervision or direction.
  • Ensure proper electrode placement and technique for accurate results.
  • Ensure equipment is calibrated, maintained, and functioning correctly.
  • Adhere to infection control and patient safety policies.
  • Maintain knowledge of and compliance with hospital policies and HIPAA regulations.
  • Accurately document procedures and patient interactions in the EMR.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Provide pre-procedure instructions and post-procedure care as needed.
  • Notify physician and/or nurse immediately of life-threatening findings.
  • Maintain a constant awareness of potential safety hazards.
  • Call for assistance and respond to emergency situations.
  • Maintain equipment in good working order through routine adjustments.
  • File all EEG tracings saving to disk and archiving as required.
  • Retrieve data for PI and CQI purposes and other job-related duties as requested by manager.
  • Assist in the development of policy and procedures as they relate to areas of responsibility.
