About The Position

A Nerve Conduction Technologist Certified performs neurodiagnostic tests including nerve conduction studies to assess the function and integrity of the peripheral nerves and muscles. This role is responsible for educating and preparing patients prior to their electromyography (EMG) procedures. The Nerve Conduction Technologist Certified works closely with physicians to aid in the accurate diagnosis and monitoring of neurological disorders and conditions to ensure the design of effective treatment plans for patients. Performs a comprehensive range of Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS), adhering to national standards to record and study electrical activity in the brain and the nervous system to help doctors diagnose neurological issues. Maintains and calibrates all neurodiagnostic equipment while ensuring an adequate supply of neurodiagnostic materials to promote a smooth workflow and reliable neurodiagnostic testing and contribute to patient safety and quality care. Educates patients regarding NCS, Electromyography (EMG) to enhance patient understanding and cooperation during testing and promote a positive patient experience. Monitors patients during tests or surgeries using, evoked potential (EP) instruments, or video recording equipment. Summarizes technical data to assist physicians to diagnose brain, sleep, or nervous system disorders. Sets up, programs, and records montages or electrical combinations when testing peripheral nerve, spinal cord, subcortical, or cortical responses. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Completion of an END/Neurodiagnostic Technologist program or eligible for certification through on-the-job training.
  • 1 year experience in nerve conduction studies.
  • Certified Nerve Conduction Technologist (CNCT) from the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine.
