About The Position

JOB OVERVIEW • Job Title: Nephrologist • Job Type: Locum Tenens • Location: Wichita, KS • Service Setting: Hospital • Coverage Type: Clinical + Call • Start Date: 06-01-2026 • Clinical Shift Schedule: Thursdays, 1:00pm – 5:00pm • On-Call Shift Schedule: Evenings, weekends, and holidays per monthly call schedule Weekday daytime (8:00 AM–4:00 PM) Weeknight on-call (4:00 PM–8:00 AM) Weekend on-call (24-hour shifts) Holiday coverage (day + night) • Call Type: Beeper • Call Ratio: TBD • Call Response Time: Phone within 15 minutes; on-site within 60 minutes PATIENT INFORMATION • Patient Demographics: Adult and Geriatric Veterans • Patient Volume/Census: Approximately 8 patients per clinic session plus inpatient consults • Admissions: Yes • Rounding: Included • Phone Consults: Yes • Case Mix: Acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, end-stage kidney disease, dialysis management, transplant follow-up, electrolyte disorders, hypertension FACILITY INFORMATION • No. of Beds in Department: TBD • Trauma Level: Not Designated • EMR System: State Electronic Health Record • Office Equipment Available: Yes • Specialty Backup Available: Multispecialty support available on site • Support Staff Available: RNs and interdisciplinary facility clinical staff PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE • Hospital Privileges Required: Yes • Temporary Privileges Available: Yes • Credentialing Timeline: Approximately 30–90 days COMPENSATION & BENEFITS • Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Travel and lodging not covered; malpractice required REQUIRED PROCEDURES • Hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis oversight • Vascular access management • Central venous dialysis catheter placement • Kidney biopsy as privileged JOB REQUIREMENTS • Licenses: Active, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory • Board: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Nephrology • DEA: Active DEA Certification • Certifications: BLS or ACLS • Experience: Recent graduates up to four years or experienced providers accepted DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient nephrology care • Manage dialysis therapies and kidney replacement treatments • Participate in on-call coverage including nights, weekends, and holidays • Perform consultative services and procedures within granted privileges • Document all care in the electronic health record and comply with agency policies • Any other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Active, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Nephrology
  • Active DEA Certification
  • BLS or ACLS
  • Recent graduates up to four years or experienced providers accepted
