Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Planning, Environmental Sciences, or closely related field.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, including overnight trips.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the Georgia Environmental Policy Act (GEPA)
  • Proficiency with Adobe, Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft Suite, and AutoCad/Civil3D
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required for coordination with the Project Management team
  • Must have a valid driver's license

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Georgia Department of Transportation is a plus but not required

Responsibilities

  • Perform environmental planning for Georgia Department of Transportation projects
  • Prepare NEPA documents (Programmatic Categorical Exclusions, Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments, and Finding of No Significant Impact)
  • Lead coordination within an interdisciplinary NEPA team comprised of Historians, Archaeologists, Ecologists, and Air/Noise Analysts
  • Develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules for transportation projects
  • Read and comprehend transportation construction plans
  • Anticipate and mitigate risks to Georgia DOT projects
  • Prepare materials for public involvement meetings and draft letters responding to public comments
  • Understand and apply applicable various Memoranda of Understanding to Georgia DOT projects
  • Conduct research for land use planning and Environmental Justice populations impacts for NEPA documents
  • Prepare Georgia DOT TPro and Primavera P6 updates, Georgia DOT progress reports, and monthly coordination meeting minutes
  • Assist with various business development activities, including preparation of technical and fee proposals for local, state, and federal aid projects
  • Coordinate with internal and external project stakeholders, including project/program managers, roadway/structural/traffic engineers, regulatory agencies, local governments, etc.
