About The Position

Venesco, LLC has a new opening for three (3) Neonatologists to provide services at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. This requirement, which is in support of the Department of Pediatrics (WRNMMC), will be for Board Eligible/Certified Neonatologists to fill 3 FTE via coverage contract. This requirement will make it possible to maintain the Defense Health network National Capital Region’s only Level 3 NICU and support the following GME Programs: Neonatal-Perinatal Fellowship, Pediatric Residency, Anesthesia Residency, and OB-GYN Residency. This would also support the Uniformed Services University of Health Science School of Medicine medical students during their clinical rotations. The neonatologist will participate on a team with two to four neonatologists in caring for critical neonates 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year who are in born to WRNMMC or other locations, including military treatment facilities, outside civilian hospitals, or our own Operating Rooms after surgery. Requirements

• Degree: Doctor of Medicine.
• Completion of a minimum of three (3) years formal training (Fellowship) in Neonatal Perinatal Medicine Fellowship with Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) approved facility with Board Eligibility or Certification.
• Actively seeking Board Certification (in process of becoming Board Certified within eighteen (18) months) or Board Certified in Neonatal Perinatal Medicine.
• Possess experience in a Pediatric Residency Training Program and in a Neonatal Perinatal Medicine Fellowship Training Program as Consultant or residency instructor.
• Possess and maintain a current valid unrestricted license to practice medicine in any state in the United States, The District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or the Virgin Islands.
• Possess and maintain a current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration number to prescribe controlled substances.
• Possess sufficient initiative, interpersonal relationship skills and social sensitivity to relate constructively to a variety of patients from diverse backgrounds.
• Maintain certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), STABLE, Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS).

Responsibilities

• Participate in medical care and academic training.
• Teach and mentor Pediatrics, OB-GYN, and Anesthesia residents, along with Neonatology fellows during each of the academic blocks.
• Conduct formal Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) teaching rounds at least seven (7) days per week.
• Ensure that progress notes, diagnosis and treatment plans are completed in accordance with Military Treatment Facility (MTF) guidelines.
• Write orders directly and/or supervise orders written by house officers.
• Become familiar with the hospital formulary and prescribe pharmaceuticals according to the availability of drugs listed therein.
• Prepare and maintain proper medical records on beneficiaries.
• Answer consults from other services within WRNMMC.
• Determine when the patient's status shall allow for discharge from the NICU.
• Maintain a level of professionalism by continuing to enhance their education and by participating in continuing medical education programs.
