A Brief Overview Coordinates professional nursing and individualized, family centered care to neonatal patients under 4 months of age or any NICU transfer in the critical care transport environment. Care and transport of the critically ill patient is supported using the nursing process and clinical skills in accordance with Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS) standards and hospital policies and procedures. Varied schedules to include weekend and holiday patterns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited school of nursing
  • Must be enrolled in a Bachelor of Nursing program
  • Minimum 3-year experience critical care
  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 180 Days
  • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation within 180 Days
  • Specialty Certification required within 2 years of hire
  • Must have valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle driving record
  • Due to the aircraft the Organization utilizes for both rotary and fixed wing, all Transport applicants must be 225 lbs or under Upon Hire
  • Must be able to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature, without loss of efficiency or composure, and be able to perform under stressful conditions when confronted with multiple requests, demonstrating prioritizing skills.
  • Must be able to work in an environment which includes the use of ambulance, helicopter, and airplane patient transport vehicles that results in exposure to non-conventional motions, noise, vibration, fumes and extreme heat/cold.
  • Must be able to perform multiple physical activities at the same time (i.e., carrying equipment while pushing a cot or incubator)

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 1 year of experience with pediatric patients
  • CAMTS approved trauma certification course within 1 Year

Responsibilities

  • Conducts individualized age-specific patient/family assessments according to defined unit scope and nursing practice standards.
  • Develops individualized patient/family plan of care using clinical practice guidelines to meet identified needs.
  • Implements and evaluates nursing actions in accordance with the individualized patient/family plan of care and patient condition/needs.
  • Documentation reflects accurate assessment/evaluation, modification, and patients’ response to therapy, changes in condition, and therapeutic interventions/procedures.
  • Demonstrates responsiveness to the organizational functions of the transport process.
  • Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job.
  • Perform physical requirements as described in the Physical Requirements section
  • Adherence to Transport Fit for Duty policy.
