About The Position

Regional Neonatal Associates, in conjunction with University Physicians' Association, Inc. is currently looking for a dynamic Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to join our team in a full-time role. As part of the Regional Perinatal Center for the East TN region, qualified candidates will provide healthcare to patients in a Level III NICU and as well as coverage in our well-baby nursery and other community Level I nurseries. The applicant will work in consultation, cooperation, and coordination with the supervising physician(s) to evaluate, diagnose, clinically monitor, and manage patients’ care. University of Tennessee Medical Center (UTMC): State Designated Regional Perinatal Center for East Tennessee Level IV Obstetrics Unit with just under 5,000 deliveries per year Level III NICU with 65 beds and average daily census of 45, all private rooms UTMC is located in Knoxville, TN, is a 710-bed facility and the region’s only academic medical center, Level I Trauma Center and Magnet recognized Hospital

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
  • Licensure and Certification to be in good standing with the State Board
  • NRP certified

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Physicians by making appropriate treatment plan for patients.
  • Assesses health conditions and collects patient data through interviews, observation, and elimination.
  • Documents findings and actions appropriately in the patient's medical record.
  • Schedule testing, procedures and other medically necessary measures as appropriately identified.
  • Demonstrate strong and effective communication skills.
  • Maintains continuity of patient care through monitoring of progress and modifying the plan of care, as necessary.
  • Reviews labs, diagnostics, and other testing/notes, as necessary.
  • Transport of critically ill Neonates.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and the privacy/security of patients' protected health information.
  • Functions according to the established standards and practices of medicine for Nurse Practitioners in the State of Tennessee.
