About The Position

The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner delivers primary care to acute, critical, complex chronically ill and well neonates collaboratively with the Division of Neonatology. The Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive: physical assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation for patients and their families. The Nurse Practitioner also provides acute resuscitation, on-going multidisciplinary medical management, transitional care to sub-acute and lower level neonatal units within the community, critical care consultations and evaluations, psychosocial support, and health education to infants/children and their families in the critical care arena. The Nurse Practitioner also functions as a clinical leader, educator, researcher, and consultant in collaboration with physicians of numerous subspecialties, nurses, and all healthcare team members. The Nurse Practitioner supports the philosophies of the department and is evaluated by nursing and medical staff. The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner also performs under standardized procedures within the neonatal services per Medical Staff Privileges. Generally, they are working in a unit that is a 24/7 operation. Schedules are not limited to MondayFriday w/ limited or no holidays.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree
  • BLS for Health Providers (AHA)
  • California RN License
  • NP Furnisher, State of CA
  • NRP Advanced Provider (AAP)
  • National Provider Identifier
  • Nurse Practitioner, CA
  • Successfully complete the credentialing process through Medical Staff Services
  • National Neonatal NP Certification, obtained within 6 months of employment

Nice To Haves

  • 2 Years of Experience
  • NRP Instructor (AAP)
  • Ped Adv Life Support Prov(AHA)
  • Two years experience of clinical nursing within a Neonatal ICU
