About The Position

The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner is an advanced practice registered nurse with education, training, certification and licensure to direct the care of the at-risk infant. This individual works in collaboration with the NICU Medical Director, staff neonatologists, the Director of APPs, the Lead APP, the Department Director, staff nurses and other team members. Major areas of responsibility include the provision of direct medical care to at risk and critically ill infants, the emergency stabilization of critically ill infants, participation in neonatal transports, participation in staff development and education, and participation in parent education and discharge planning.

Requirements

  • DNP, MSN, or Post-Graduate Certificate with specialization as a neonatal nurse practitioner
  • A minimum of one year of related experience as an RN in a level 3 or 4 neonatal intensive care unit.
  • Alabama RN licensure
  • NNP Certification through NCC
  • Must be certified to practice as a nurse practitioner by the Alabama Board of Nursing
  • Current BLS/NRP certification required.
