About The Position

The position is for a full-time Advanced Practice Nurse in the Pediatrics: Neonatology department at Advocate Health. The role involves providing comprehensive clinical care, including telephone care, conducting assessments, ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies, and prescribing treatments. The nurse will collaborate with patients and interdisciplinary teams to formulate care plans and will also engage in professional development and quality improvement initiatives. Requirements

  • Master's Degree or equivalent as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • 1 year APP experience in the relevant setting preferred.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with an Electronic Medical Record.
  • Current licensure in the State of Illinois.
  • Current Illinois Controlled Substance License within 6 months of hire.
  • Eligible for DEA registration; possession of a current DEA Registration within six months of hire.
  • Current BLS Certification.
  • Current PALS/ACLS certification may vary based on practice site.

Responsibilities

  • Fulfills billing and productivity metrics requirements and maintains relevant documentation.
  • Provides telephone care to various patients.
  • Completes and documents accurate comprehensive, episodic history and physical assessments.
  • Orders, conducts, supervises, and interprets diagnostic laboratory and imaging studies.
  • Prescribes treatments and therapies, including medications, diet, supplies, and equipment.
  • Implements primary and secondary prevention strategies and manages acute and chronic health problems.
  • Documents clear, concise, accurate, and legible information regarding patient care.
  • Formulates a comprehensive plan of care in collaboration with the patient and interdisciplinary team.
  • Advises leadership on organizational change and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participates in peer review and maintains appropriate credentialing and privileging requirements.
  • Seeks experiences and learning activities to maintain and develop clinical and professional skills.
  • Establishes effective relationships with the interdisciplinary team and collaborating physician.
  • Advances the profession through presentations and publications.
  • Conducts and mentors others in research activities.
  • Provides education to patients, families, and significant others.
