About The Position

Neighbourhood Ambassador role focuses on strengthening community connections and enhance the quality of life in Burlington’s neighbourhood's and communities. By engaging directly with residents in city parks, arenas, and public spaces, Ambassadors gather valuable feedback on neighbourhood experiences, needs, and aspirations. Please note: this position primarily works evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  • The Neighbourhood Ambassador requires a High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess strong oral and written communication skills.
  • It is expected that staff will be available to work for the duration of their contract and staff will find their own coverage for any time off. Time off is at the discretion of the Coordinator, Community Development.
  • A valid G driver’s license is required with an acceptable driver’s abstract with no more than three (3) driving related convictions or an accumulation of no more than three (3) demerit points in the previous three (3) years prior to the date of hire, and/or no administrative driver license (ADLS) suspensions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a recreation environment is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Building relationships with community members, act as liaison for Neighbourhood events and be a presence in neighbourhoods, parks and public spaces
  • Facilitating conversations and discussions to promote connections with residents, local organizations and public service agencies
  • Serving as a point of contact for residents, ensuring effective communication and addressing community questions and concerns.
  • Implementing community surveys and sharing information.
  • Assist with on-site logistics of community programs, including; Love My Neighbourhood, Play Lending, Community Hubs and Neighbourhood Connectors
  • Connecting residents with local resources and services, such as grants, program and services that are delivered by City of Burlington.
  • Representing the interests and needs of the neighbourhood and advocating for community projects and improvements.
  • Prepare daily shift report for supervisor highlighting activities and actions completed.
  • Operate a City vehicle, perform daily vehicle circle check and other safety requirements.
  • Keep the vehicle clean.
