About The Position

Northeast Dock & Door (NEDD), a division of Thompson & Johnson Equipment, has experienced strong growth over the past four years—and we’re just getting started. We’re now hiring a Dock & Door Sales Manager to take the next step: build, lead, and scale our sales team across Upstate New York. This role starts as a player/coach, with responsibility for both driving your own sales and developing a high-performing team—and will evolve into a dedicated Sales Manager role as the division continues to grow. Why This Role Exists Historically, one Sales Manager has supported both Dock & Door and Forklift Aftermarket Sales. As our Dock & Door business has expanded, we are investing in dedicated leadership to: Focus exclusively on growing the Dock & Door division Build a strong, scalable sales team Capture market share across Upstate New York You’ll report directly to the Vice President of Thompson & Johnson, who also serves as the General Manager of NEDD. Requirements

  • Proven experience in B2B sales and/or sales leadership
  • Strong ability to both sell and lead (player/coach mindset)
  • Experience recruiting, developing, and coaching salespeople
  • Ability to build structure, process, and accountability
  • Strong business acumen — understands margin, pricing, and growth strategy
  • Valid driver’s license, clean of any major infractions

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in equipment, construction, industrial, or related industries preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop and grow your own territory in the Syracuse market
  • Drive new equipment sales and build customer relationships
  • Manage opportunities from prospecting through close
  • Recruit, hire, and onboard Dock & Door sales representatives
  • Conduct ride-a longs and provide hands-on coaching
  • Lead pipeline reviews and reinforce strong sales discipline
  • Develop reps in prospecting, quoting, and closing
  • Own revenue, margin, and growth across the NEDD division
  • Build and execute a strategic sales plan across all territories
  • Establish territories and ensure strong market coverage
  • Monitor pipeline, win rates, and performance metrics
  • Partner with Operations, Service, and MHE teams to ensure execution
