About The Position

NEA is accepting applications for individuals interested in participating as a Workforce Development Intern in the NEA Internship Program for the Fall 2025 session, which will begin on or after September 22, 2025 and will end on December 12, 2025. The internships range from six weeks to a full semester. Interns will receive a stipend of $20 per hour and may intern up to a maximum of twenty (20) hours a week. This position is a NEA headquarters based position, and individuals will be expected to work on-site. The NEA Internship Program provides interns with training, learning opportunities, educational activities and exposure to a variety of rich and substantive programmatic experiences that support quality public education. These experiences may include conducting research; data analysis; writing, editing, using Internet applications and social media; participating in and assisting with partnership events, meetings and policy forums; visits to Capitol Hill; and other appropriate program-related activities.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as a junior or senior in college, recent college graduate (up to 18 months), or graduate student.
  • Pursuing a degree in Education, Political Science, Government, Human Resources, Public Policy, Social Sciences, Business, Finance, Economics, Management, Sociology, Communications, Computer Science, Journalism, Mass Media, Graphic Design, Digital Communications, or related disciplines.
  • Ability to work on-site at NEA headquarters.
  • Skills in using a computer and/or laptop.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal relations skills.
  • Reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in instructional design.
  • Familiarity with newsletter development.
  • Knowledge of advocacy strategies in public education.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and data analysis.
  • Write and edit documents using Internet applications and social media.
  • Participate in and assist with partnership events, meetings, and policy forums.
  • Visit Capitol Hill and engage in program-related activities.
  • Collaborate with NEA staff on various projects.
  • Develop training for staff and marketing in-house professional development.
  • Create newsletters and job aids.
  • Focus on data analytics for staff development and employee engagement.
