About The Position

NEA is accepting applications for individuals interested in participating as a NEA Counter Disinformation Intern in the NEA Internship Program, Center for Communications, Counter Disinformation Strategy department, for the Fall 2025 session, which will begin on or after September 15, 2025 and will end on December 5, 2024. The internships range from six weeks to a full semester. Interns will receive a stipend of $20 per hour and may intern up to a maximum of twenty (20) hours a week. The NEA Internship Program provides interns with training, learning opportunities, educational activities and exposure to a variety of rich and substantive programmatic experiences that support quality public education.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in Education, Political Science, Government, Human Resources, Public Policy, Social Sciences, Business, Finance, Economics, Management, Communications, Computer Science, Journalism, Mass Media, Graphic Design, Digital Communications or related disciplines.
• Interest in public education policy and education issues.
• Ability to work collaboratively with NEA staff.
• Strong writing and editing skills.
• Ability to work under deadline pressure.

• Experience using social media.
• Experience with media databases.
• Skills in organization and communication.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research and data analysis.
• Write and edit memos and materials.
• Curate disinformation reports.
• Participate in and assist with partnership events, meetings, and forums.
• Draft and edit disinformation report summaries.
• Research social media for new trends in content creation.
• Create disinformation reports for state affiliates.
• Research new actors and trends in disinformation.
• Support training of staff and members in best practices to counter disinformation.
