About The Position

The NDT Technician Level I position is an entry-level role focused primarily on X-Ray inspections within the Titanium Division at Precision Castparts Corp. (PCC) in Ogden, UT. The technician will perform quality inspections using various NDT methods, including X-Ray (Film and CR), Penetrant, and Magnetic Particle testing. The role involves processing, inspecting, and evaluating surface and subsurface discontinuities, certifying products in conformance with customer specifications, and maintaining traceability to such certifications. The position offers a starting pay of $20.50/hr along with a $2000 sign-on and retention bonus. The technician will also be responsible for preventative maintenance and calibrations on NDT equipment, operating vapor degreasers, and ensuring proper processing of X-ray films.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • 2-5 years of NDT experience, preferably in aerospace manufacturing.
  • Meets all requirements to certify as a Level I or Level II X-ray CR.
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of inspections and components to established standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications and a firm understanding of gauging and measuring equipment.
  • Effective communication skills with tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to work in a production environment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend English, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs. occasionally and 25 lbs. continuously.
  • Near vision requirement is Jaeger J1 for both eyes, at no less than 12 inches; color perception is required.

Responsibilities

  • Certifies product that is in conformance with customer specifications and maintains traceability to such certification.
  • May create NDT techniques and work instructions.
  • Performs penetrant, X-ray, and magnetic particle inspections and interprets results.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and calibrations on NDT equipment.
  • Operates vapor degreaser and performs necessary process checks.
  • Processes, sorts, and verifies X-ray film.
  • Performs etch, passivation, and electropolish as needed.
  • Grinds, finishes, and sandblasts parts as needed.
  • Communicates closely with engineers on scrap, rework, and process issues.
  • Maintains lot integrity and ensures paperwork is properly done.
  • Helps other areas as needed.
  • May be required to take hazardous waste training.
